I have a guest strip up over at “Zorphbert and Fred” today. Created by Dawn Griffin, “Zorphbert and Fred” follows the adventures of two aliens, desguised as dogs, as they study the human race. While you’re there, be sure to congratuate Dawn and her fiancé Rick as they will be tying the knot very soon!

More homages

The scene with Chief Flash and the broken air conditioner a few pages back was an homage to the movie In The Heat Of The Night, where Chief Gillespie (Rod Steiger) is confronted with a similar broken AC towards the beginning.  Since Chief Flash is a cannine version of Gillespie, I figured such an homage would be apt.  Also, the scene involving Tyrone not wanting to jump over the edge is a salute to my most favorite scene in Home Alone where Marv (Daniel Stern) says he isn’t going out the window after Kevin … only to get forced to anyway by his partner in crime Marv.  The line “Are you a ‘fraidy cat?” is a deliberate gag on my part because it is being used by a cat, which I thought would be funny.  And kudos to Ed for how cool Dingo looks using his sombrero as a parachute.  -Rich
