So the mayor of the city has a new policy that will affect Jo Wednesday’s job, but what is it, since he has just gone off the deep end with question unaswered?  Come back next Sunday to keep tabs.

Behind the scenes with Rich

This whole sequence involving the mayor -whose name, incidentally, is Mayor Spotz- satirizes trash TV and politicians with hair-trigger tempers while at the same time being cute, zany stuff for kids of all ages, not a warmed over  Doonesbury rip-off.  I honestly think some of the comics out there (which I will not name out of professional respect) lay it on wayyyy too thick with politics these days.  On a lighter note, the whole sequence with Mayor Spotz is also an homage to a very funny Get Fuzzy story arc where Bucky gets his own call-in home decorating show on a community access channel which has to display a “technical difficulties” sign when Bucky flips out over a caller’s question. Having Spotz be a Dalmation is also a subtle send up of 101 Dalmations.  I thought it was high time we saw a Dalmation in something wildly off the wall, not sugary and cuteCome to think of it, though, Spotz could have gotten those Dalmations in that Disney film out of a jam one to three by attacking those trying to kidnap them! I can see hom now: “How dare you try to land your filthy hands on my breed!” [Kick, punch, bite, smack, biff!] – Rich
